What is Health?
Health is is defined in the WHO constitution
of 1948 as: A state of complete physical, social and mental well-being,
and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Within the
context of health promotion, health has been considered less as
an abstract state and more as a means to an end which can be expressed
in functional terms as a resource which permits people to lead
an individually, socially and economically productive life. Health
is a resource for everyday life, not the object of living. It
is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources
as well as physical capabilities.
What is Depression?
Depression is a mental state of depressed mood characterized by feelings of sadness, despair and discouragement. Depression ranges from normal feelings of the blues through dysthymia to major depression. It in many ways resembles the grief and mourning that follow bereavement, there are often feelings of low self esteem, guilt and self reproach, withdrawal from interpersonal contact and physical symptoms such as eating and sleep disturbances.
What is Pregnancy?
Pregnancy is the period of time from confirmation of implantation of a fertilized egg within the uterus until the fetus has entirely left the uterus (i.e., has been delivered).
What is Asthma?
Asthma is a chronic, inflammatory lung disease characterized by recurrent breathing problems. People with asthma have acute episodes or when the air passages in their lungs get narrower, and breathing becomes more difficult. Sometimes episodes of asthma are triggered by allergens, although infection, exercise, cold air and other factors are also important triggers.
What is Health Insurance?
Insurance against financial losses resulting from sickness or
accidental bodily injury. Protection that provides payment of
benefits for covered sickness or injury. Included under this heading
are various types of insurance such as accident insurance, disability
income insurance, medical expense insurance, and accidental death
and dismemberment insurance.
What is Medical Malpractice?
Improper actions or failure to exercise proper skill by a professional
or others involved with the care of the human body, such as a
physician, dentist, blood bank, etc. Malpractice insurance is
a form of liability coverage against such mistakes.
